A couple days later there were more little surprises:
Maybe you didn't know, but it takes a whole day for a robin to lay just one egg (thanks wikipedia). Usually a clutch, or group of eggs, has four. Millie confirmed that there were four a few days later when she went up for a peek. I just love watching "Mama Bird" snuggle in with her little eggs. She actually has to wiggle around quite a bit to get in there "just right".
*On a side note: Matt and I heard the coolest bird song when we were up at Tight Lines last weekend. Discovered that it was a Cow Bird. Interesting fact: they lay their eggs in other birds' nests and let the unsuspecting mother raise them - deadbeat parents of the aviary world! Listen to their song/call at http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/107/_/brown-headed_cowbird.aspx. It sounds to me like they are trying to call underwater!
