My mom had plans to fly in on Friday and spend the afternoon with me while the girls were in school, but since it was only a half day for them (and because of scheduling conflicts) we decided to suprise her at the airport with the girls in the car. Ruby and Millie were so excited to sneak one over on Nana. Ruby reinterated several times on the phone with Nana that "only Mommy is going to come to the airport". I was afraid she was going to give it away, but Nana was busy planning a surprise of her own. As we pulled up to the airport Papa was with her! The girls were quite excited to give AND receive a surprise. We had some good political discussions, great food and fabulous hiking while they were there. It is always sad to see them go, but we only have about a month until we will be back with them in Kansas for the holidays!
Three days after their departure, Mary and Woody came out. It was their first time at our new home so it was exciting to give the tour of the house and show off all our projects. Matt loved building fires for them and we had alot of time to catch up. Mary was able to volunteer in Millie's classroom one morning and we ate lunch with Ruby in her class. It was so much fun to be with the kids and Mary enjoyed getting to see their school. The girls were very excited to try out their new game that GranMary and Poppy brought - UNO Attack! I don't know who had more fun - Mary and I (trying to increase the other's stack of cards) or the girls (trying to increase their own). We tried a new restaurant and took them into Evergreen for a little nature walk and some lunch. Due to my motion-sickness medicine I was passed out for much of the mountain ride home, but from what they tell me - Kenosha pass was beautiful (even without the Aspens). It was so great to see them all and the girls love having visitors.
Next up: the Purcells for Thanksgiving. If you want to come and visit make your res
ervations now - things are filling up fast :) !
