Simple Machines Get Complex

Millie came home two weeks ago and insisted that we go to Target on the spot and get a presentation poster...she and her friend Jenna were partners on a science project.  Bad mother that I am, I made her wait a couple of days (the project wasn't due for two weeks) and then she and Jenna got down to work.  They drew pictures, wrote paragraphs and found real-world examples of the six different types of simple machines.  At the study date I was relegated to trimming the paper for the borders and trying not to give too much advice (that was the hard part).  It was like watching a younger, less hairy version of myself.  Millie spent as much time straightening and aligning the display as she did researching and writing the context.  She was extremely proud of her and Jenna's work and couldn't wait to show it off.  As they worked the girls said, "We are going to get a four on this, or at least a three!"  They did indeed get the best score they could and Millie was eager to be one of the first to share it with her classmates.  Great work Millie and Jenna!
