The house is moving, but a little slower than we had hoped. Matt and his buddy Jeff took a long weekend to finish some more demo - walls and plumbing. All that exposed framing highlighted some framing issues that needed addresses so an engineer consulted and the framers just finished up two weeks of shoring up the structure. Apparently the house could now double as a parking garage - the snow load is big, but the house is completely ready to handle it now. Matt took advantage of the opportunity and had the framers put in log poles for support instead of the standard beams...and it looks AWESOME! The girls and I have been on cleanup crew for the last two weekends and Matt has pulled up the old, rotted sections of the floor and put down new sub-floor. The remaining walls can now come down. The whole place is looking so open and big. Can't wait to fill it up with cozy furniture, good friends and lots of family memories!
Four new log supports (view from dining area)
Looking up to the second floor (view from living room). Two bedrooms will now become one bigger sleeping loft.
View from front door into kitchen. This use to be closed off into two separate rooms with a hallway. Hoping to keep it a little more open!
