Soccer Camp Isn't for Wimps!

Millie finally decided to give soccer a try this summer. She attended a 6 week camp that met twice a week. It was quite fun to watch the kids. Of course there were the kids who looked like they came out of the womb wearing shinguards and then there were those (like Millie) who would have rather laid in the grass and watched the bugs. In fact, I think I did see a few kids doing just that. There were so many "water breaks" that I was beginning to think that the union had infiltrated the youth soccer league. I suspect that after too many more days there would have been little grade schoolers out with their picket signs demanding free Capri Suns. Luckily it didn't get that far and I suspect that Millie's soccer career won't get much farther either. After two sessions she was thinking about joining a team, after four she just wanted to do soccer camp without a team, and yesterday she informed me that she wanted to take an art class next summer. Oh well, it isn't for everyone. She did look pretty cool in her soccer clothes (hmmm...future Halloween outfit perhaps?) and she loved hanging out in the goal.....talking to the other little girls!

Looking tough in her soccer gear on the first day of camp!

Girls can do anything boys can do - even better!

Time for a water break!
One more drill and I am going to pull my hair OUT!

Another water break!?!?!

Millie's kind of soccer!

Is it time to go home for my nap?

Such intimidating goalies!

Sheesh...this kid is a camel!
