Millie and Ruby started riding the bus this week and they LOVE it! It picks up and drops off right outside the house and is full of kids - some they know and some they don't - another opportunity to make friends! They were up bright and early and had to wait about 30 minutes for the bus to arrive, but it was so worth it. Call me a worrywart, but I did go to school the first day and make sure they arrived safely and knew how to get to their lines. They were so excited when they saw me...they told me all about the Jonas Brothers music they got to listen to on the bus! Apparently buses have gotten a whole lot cooler than they were back in my school days!
We did attempt to prep the girls about how they needed to stick together and look out for one another. We made the mistake of using the example of a bully. Of course they grabbed right on to that idea and ran with it. Millie said she would punch anyone who was being mean to Ruby (I wondered if that meant she would hit herself?). We had to nip that in the bud right away. They even told the neighbor that they were going to ride the bus and Ruby chimes in, "And there is going to be a bully too!" Why do I open my mouth at all! Anyhoo, I am glad to report that there has been NO sign of a bully and the girls are loving their new found freedom! I can't complain about the extra 30 minutes it buys me either!
Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to snap any action shots - the bus driver was off like lightening with Matt saying, "Frankly, she needs to slow down - way too fast!". Hey we need something to worry about! Here are the pre-bus ride shots...

Okay, the music is not helping out with the "missing the kids" thing!!!
