Millie's First Day of Kindergarten

Millie started Kindergarten at Mark Hopkins Elementary school on September 5th and she is LOVING it! Although it is sometimes hard to get up in the morning, she looks forward to getting to school - even going so far as to think of ways to get there faster. She has tried eating breakfast faster, refusing to play in the mornings, and convincing Ruby to skip breakfast so we can leave sooner. It is hard to grasp our inability to speed up time! Her teacher's name is Ms. Wilson and she is everything you think of when you think of a kindergarten teacher - soft spoken, gentle, kind. Matt and I have been so thankful that Millie is loving it so much...one more hurdle cleared. She tells me that her favorite part of the day is lunch (she lives for the one day of the week that she gets to buy a hot lunch) and she has a friend that she "loves", although for the first couple of days she wasn't sure of her name. She has already taken full advantage of the school library - checking out books at least two times a week and she can't stop talking about all she is learning. The best part for me is watching her begin to read - having her teacher reinforce what I have been doing at home has "proven" to Millie that I might know what I am talking about (maybe). Here are a few pics from the first day!
