The day that Millie went to Kindergarten we got the phone call that Ruby would be able to attend Preschool at Mark Hopkins Elementary School! What an exciting day for Ruby and Mommy! She was more than a little disappointed that Millie was going away to school and she wasn't. The first thing she said to me as we left Millie at school was, "Mommy who is going to play with me?" We made do for the first two days (she loves pretending that she is my pet dog and it is pretty easy for me to take care of
a pet and get the house unpacked), but she was very excited to go and meet new friends at school. Her anxity got the better of her on Thursday night when she said, "but what if I don't make any friends?" I assured her that she is a very sweet girla and would make lots of friends. Millie piped in, "Look at me. I made lots of friends!" This from the girl who couldn't remember their names! There is more to friendship than knowing someone's name I guess. Millie did caution Ruby that school was hard ("You have to be away from Mommy for 85 hours"), but Ruby did great. She attends all day Mondays and Fridays and enjoys taking her lunch to school (and occasionally buying a hot lunch - very popular with the Wachter family).
