It is official - Matt is living his dream. We had our first WOOD fire since moving in! The house actually came equipped with a gas insert (which everyone is putting into their homes - those Wachters love to buck the system), but Matt removed it the minute we moved in and it has been an ongoing project ever since. After the gas was capped off and Matt made two trips up the 32 foot ladder, he finally conceded to having a professional put the chimney cap on and we were ready to roll. This WEEKEND was spent building the firewood shelter that was predicted to take 3 hours (read between the lines) and it works beautifully. It kept the water off the one piece of firewood that was snuggled in for the test run! Matt did such a nice job that I have commissioned him to build me a compost bin and Millie and Ruby are clamoring for a tree house (despite the fact that we have no trees for one). All the hard work is paying off as we enjoyed the last two nights warming our tootsies. And not a moment too soon - the temperature is dropping quickly tonight to around a crisp 45. A perfect evening was topped off with popcorn and a game of SORRY! with the girls. My only concern is that

I might come home one night to find a bearskin rug!
